Michael Johnson was Manchester City's match-winner with his goal enough for victory over Derby County at Eastlands tonight.
Not only did Johnson's effort confirm a top-three berth, it also ensured City enter Sunday's Manchester derby in the rare position of being ahead of their arch-rivals.
Picking up possession just inside the Derby half, Johnson beat three would-be tacklers before feeding Stephen Ireland.
The midfielder sped onto the return pass then almost punted his shot past West Ham keeper Stephen Bywater.
