The 18 year-old shone last season in the Segunda Division with Mallorca B and is weighing up his options this summer.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and AS Roma are all keen on Asencio.
City are banking on their large Spanish speaking contingent to convince Asencio's family that he won't be at an disadvantage moving to England next season.
