Manchester City have rejected a bid from Turkish club Besiktas for out-of-favour striker Darius Vassell.

The England forward scored just three league goals in 28 starts last season and appears to have little chance of establishing himself in Sven-Goran Eriksson's first team following the arrival of Italian striker Rolando Bianchi.

However, the club have dismissed the offer for the former Villa player who is part of a 22-man squad currently on the pre-season tour of Sweden.
