Man City ready to compete with Chelsea for wantaway Pogba

Manchester City will compete with Chelsea for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba in January.

The Daily Star Sunday says Pogba's plans to leave Juve were held up last month by an image rights' issue.

He will use the transfer window closure to resolve he issue with a former agent before seeking a Juve sale.

Chelsea were prepared to smash the British transfer record to sign Pogba, 22, in the transfer window which closed last Tuesday.

Juve, though, did not want to sell - even though they could have banked anything from £70m to a world record £100m.

City, meanwhile, decided to make Pogba a long-term target and concentrated instead on the signings of £58m Kevin De Bruyne, 24, from Wolfsburg and £49m Raheem Sterling, 20, from Liverpool.

But Pogba is on City's radar.
