Manchester City are ready to sign Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.

The Frenchman attracted interest from City last summer - and admitted just last week he welcomed the Premier League leaders' approach.

El Chiringuito says City are willing to sign Laporte this month - and prepared to meet his €65m buyout clause.

City boss Pep Guardiola has made it no secret he wants a new centre-half signing made before the winter market shuts.

Interestingly, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is also discussing a move for Laporte - which could have kicked City into action this week.
