Manchester City are waiting for the green light from Real Madrid to bid for Angel di Maria. City expect Di Maria to become available once Real sign Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

City have already splashed out on Fernandinho and Jesus Navas and new boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to be given the go-ahead to bid for Argentine winger di Maria, says the Daily Star.

And Madrid could be willing to agree to a deal, knowing they could recoup some of the money back from Bale through the sale.
