Manchester City are set to close a deal for Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis.
Ajax have confirmed in the last 24 hours they've rejected an opening Atletico offer for Tony Alderweireld, who would move to Madrid as a replacement for Demichelis.
Demichelis has made it clear to Atletico he wants to move to the Etihad, despite his recent arrival at the club.
City's director of football Txiki Begiristain has told Atletico he will look elsewhere unless they lower their £5 million asking price and a deal could be reached later this week, says the Daily Star.
