Man City push ahead of Liverpool in race for Barcelona keeper Ter Stegen

Manchester City have had a big win in their pursuit of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

Recent reports suggest that he Barcelona goalkeeper would prefer a move to the Etihad Stadium to link up with Pep Guardiola rather than join Liverpool.

The Telegraph is of the belief that Ter Stegen, 23, could join City on a £20million deal which would see him challenge Joe Hart for the number one shirt, with Capital One Cup hero Willy Caballero likely to leave.

Ter Stegen has been resigned to Champions League and cup duties under Luis Enrique this season but yearns to be the first-choice keeper, which may hold back his protracted shift to Manchester, but the presence of Guardiola and prospect of playing under the Spaniard may be enough to get the German shot-stopper over the line.
