Manchester City are ready to make a January bid for Fiorentina attacker Stevan Jovetic.

City chief Patrick Vieira checked on Jovetic in action at Inter Milan on the weekend.

Fiorentina's technical director Eduardo Macia conceded that Jovetic will eventually have to be let go.

"It will be very difficult to keep him at Fiorentina, he is a great player, who will eventually play for another club," he said.

"For us his situation is similar to that of Steven Gerrard for Liverpool. This summer we decided that Jovetic was not on the market and he understood it perfectly despite Juventus' offer."
