Man City prepare amazing move for Man Utd defender Ferdinand

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is being linked with a shock move to Manchester City. That is, erm, City's American MLS franchise, New York City FC.

The Daily Star Sunday says Ferdinand, 35, is out of contract at the end of the season.

And if he secured a final, 12-month deal at Old Trafford, that would take him up to 2015 - when City's New York franchise will be up and running.

The former England star has been linked before with the US as the destination to end his playing career. Chicago has been touted and more recently Miami, as part of the franchise being set up by David Beckham.
