Manchester City's dismal defeat to Sheffield United was compounded yesterday after thieves lifted more than £2,000 from wallets and clothes inside the away dressing room.
The Guardian says while City boss Sven Goran Eriksson did not refer to the incident in his post-match press conference, a visiting club official confirmed that South Yorkshire police had been called to investigate the break-in.
A Sheffield United spokesman said: "We shall assist the police fully and in every way we can."
