Manchester City players were stunned at the lack of fireworks between manager Mark Hughes and Robinho after the Brazilian's return to the club yesterday.
Robinho was expected to be read the riot act by Sparky after going AWOL from Tenerife last week.
One senior squad member told The Sun: "The whole situation was quite surreal.
"Most of the lads turned up expecting fireworks between the manager and Robbie but there wasn't even a word.
"The boss did not single him out for any kind of treatment - angry or otherwise. It was as if nothing had happened.
"As far as the players are concerned, we're all left wondering what the hell is going on."
