Manchester City are determined to fire a salvo at Manchester United by outbidding them for Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala.
The Mail on Sunday says City will flex their muscles to prove they are now bigger than United by winning the race to sign Mangala.
A City source insists they are prepared to push out the envelope and outbid United not just to get the player, but also to make a statement that they are the bigger club.
