Man City plan to raise £40M from summer clearout

Manchester City will seek to clearout their fringe players this summer.

Forgotten man Roque Santa Cruz, on-loan at Real Betis, can go for a knockdown £1.5million, as he is on £90k a week and under contract for another two years, says the Daily Star Sunday.

City will take just £1m for left-back Wayne Bridge, 31, on loan at Sunderland and another outcast on £90k a week with just over a year left on his deal at the Etihad.

But City want £10m for striker Emmanuel Adebayor, 28, who is with Spurs on a season-long deal.

Tottenham want to make that a permanent transfer but his £170k weekly pay packet - after his £25m move from Arsenal - is an issue at White Hart Lane.

If Carlos Tevez makes his expected exit, City could bank around £40m from the sales of those four - and save £550k a week (£28m a year) in wages!
