Manchester city boss Roberto Mancini wants to sign AS Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi this month. City's contract offer of €9 million-a-year remains on the table as De Rossi's negotiations with Roma over a new deal continue to flounder.

Mediaset says City hope to sweeten the deal by offering De Rossi's father, Alberto, a youth coaching role at the club. De Rossi Snr worked with the primavera squad at Roma and is also a former Giallorossi player.
