Man City to outbid Chelsea for Modric

Manchester City are set to outbid all comers for Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Luka Modric.

The Mirror says Dinamo president Zdravko Mamic flew into London last night to conclude an £11million deal for the Croatia playmaker to join Sven Goran Eriksson's City.

Modric, 22, can play wide right or wide left and was outstanding in Croatia's double Euro 2008 qualifier victories over England, where he first came to boss Eriksson's attention.

Modric will become Eriksson's second signing of the January transfer window, following the capture of Mexico striker Nery Castillo from Shakhtar Donetsk on loan until the end of the season.
