Manchester City management see Marcos Lopes' future strictly in Sky Blue.
Lopes has joined Lille on a one-year loan, but City ruled out any thought of a sale option in the deal.
With their new £200m training ground set to open in October, City have a greater desire than ever to see youth team players make the step up.
"The club has invested a lot of money in young players and that's one of my duties here at City," said Manuel Pellegrini last season.
"It's impossible for one club to invest a lot of money every year. Every year we must have one or two players arriving from the academy to the first team."
