Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is hoping to land Paraguay hotshot Nelson Cuevas.
The 27-year-old striker is available on a season-long loan arrangement from Mexican side Club America for £1m.
Cuevas has already attracted interest from West Ham and Newcastle, but big-spending City are expected to clinch his signature.
