Manchester City must hand Wilfried Bony a payoff for him to complete a move to Swansea City.
The Daily Star says City will have to agree a severance package before Bony's £13m return to Swansea can go through.
The striker, 28, has two years remaining on his £110k-a-week deal at the Etihad.
City do not intend to fully pay up his contract, as that would almost wipe out the fee.
And they are already taking a hit on that front, as the Ivory Coast targetman was valued at £28m when he moved to City from Swansea two years ago after a successful spell in South Wales.
But negotiations on a settlement are under way.
