Manchester City may have to up their bid for FC Basle striker Eren Derdiyok.

The People says the goal England conceded against the Swiss could cost Sven Goran Eriksson a packet. The City manager has an agreement in place with FC Basle to sign Derdiyok in the summer for around £2million.

But the 19-year-old's superb strike in his country's 2-1 defeat at Wembley has seen those involved in the deal at the Swiss end suddenly start to talk up his value.
