A move to Manchester City for LA Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan is a non-starter.
The Daily Mail says City's scouts at the World Cup have been keeping an eye on Donovan, who continued his impressive form on loan at Everton last season with three goals for the USA in South Africa.
But with Roberto Mancini keen to add Aston Villa's James Milner to his midfield after completing the signing of David Silva from Valencia, there is unlikely to be room for Donovan as well.
Mancini also has Craig Bellamy, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Vladimir Weiss, although at least one of those three wide players is expected to leave before the start of the season.
