Manchester City are reportedly set to turn to Livorno's Italy international Marco Amelia in order to solve their goalkeeping problems.
City suffered a blow at the weekend with the news that a fractured thumb has ruled Andreas Ikasson out of the opening month of Premier League clashes.
But the Tuscan outfit could be tempted to part with the 25-year-old if big-spending City are prepared to splash the cash once again.
Sven-Goran Eriksson is also being linked with another Italian shot-stopper - Chelsea's Carlo Cudicini - as well as Scott Carson of Liverpool.
But City's top-flight rivals are unlikely to be willing to part with their back-up keepers, thus making Amelia the best option.
