Man City monitoring Ancelotti situation as Real Madrid pressure rises

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Carlo Ancelotti's situation at Real Madrid. The former Chelsea boss is facing the axe at Real and could be lined up by City as a replacement for Manuel Pellegrini.

Pellegrini's agent refused to shut down talk of a move to Napoli yesterday.

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon admits Ancelotti's position has become "very difficult".

He told talkSPORT: "Maybe he's thinking of leaving, I don't know.

"But I'm not sure the club or the coach know either. It's true he's under pressure, but you always are. When you come to Real Madrid, presidents, coaches, players, all of them are under pressure.

"I wouldn't say they are thinking of firing him, that would be very premature. I hope things can turn around. They are talking about (Joachim) Loew, the German national coach. I imagine they'll decide that at end of season."
