Man City midfielder Milner wanted Rodgers assurance from Liverpool

James Milner sought assurances over Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers' position at Anfield before signing for the club reports The Express.

On Thursday, Liverpool announced the capture of the midfielder, subject to a medical. The England international will join the club from Manchester City on a free transfer on July 1 after his contract at the Etihad Stadium has expired.

The 29-year-old reportedly rejected £165,000-a-week contract at City in pursuit of first team football under Northern Irishman Rodgers.

Milner won two Premier League titles and one FA Cup and one League Cup in five seasons with City.
