Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is pushing for a berth on the club's pre-season tour to the United States, according to The Telegraph.

The German midfielder, who ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in December, has recently stepped up his training with the ball.

City leave for their pre-season tour on July 17 and club's doctors are hopeful that the German would be able to make the team.

The Citizens will play Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham during their pre-season tour.
