Fernandinho has accused Diego Costa of constantly trying to offend his opponents.

The Manchester City midfielder was involved in a spat with the Chelsea striker during Sunday's clash at the Etihad Stadium.

In the wake of City's 3-0 win, in which Fernandinho scored, the Brazilian revealed that Spain international Costa goes about trying to make trouble in the pitch.

"He is always trying to offend the opposition, but I keep calm and keep playing," said Fernandinho.

"I just didn't want to fight or have any confrontation and just to play for my team.

"It was an accident and the nature of the game. It was a shock and I received a yellow card.

"It happens in football."
