Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has confirmed he's out of England's World Cup opener against USA.
Manager Fabio Capello has told Barry he will not risk him against the United States, either, which means Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard are set to be paired in the centre of midfield.
"I've been told I'm not playing against USA to give me more time," said Barry. "I'll be back in full training with the team from tomorrow."
That would put him ahead of schedule as he had been given a deadline of June 13, the day after the USA clash in Rustenburg, to begin full training.
