Manchester City and Manchester United are chasing Bayern Munich ace Franck Ribery.
The Telegraph says both Manchester clubs have made inquiries with City, in particular, keen to acquire such a big-name player as they push to challenge the top four.
City, who also plan to strengthen their defence in January, have already held informal discussions with Bayern about Ribery and would offer a better salary than United and Chelsea and outbid their rivals in terms of the transfer fee.
Nevertheless City may still struggle to convince Ribery that he should move to Eastlands ahead of Chelsea and United.
