Manchester United and Manchester City are chasing Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The Mirror says Pep Guardiola is ready to take on Manchester United in the battle to sign Ajax wonderkid Frenkie De Jong.

The Manchester City boss wants to sign a defensive midfielder in January, and De Jong is on his list of targets.

City are understood to have had a £50million bid for De Jong rejected by Ajax in the summer, and are ready to make another move.

United, meanwhile, have made the decision this past week to have a scout posted to watch De Jong in every game leading up to the January market.
