Roque Santa Cruz's father and agent has revealed that Manchester City are likely to make a bid for the Blackburn striker before the end of January.

The Rovers have already rejected a £15million off from City but Aproniano Santa Cruz said that Mark Hughes still wants the Paraguay international at Eastlands.

"I think it is quite natural that the team search for a replacement," he told Teledeportes.

"As long as the transfer window does not close, negotiations are still continuing.

"I have a feeling that it may be possible. The conditions are real and there are not many differences.

"In a negotiation, the money factor is always the most important.

"According to the City coach, he will keep trying to sign him."
