Manchester City are determined to prise Pepe from Real Madrid. The Daily Star says City boss Manuel Pellegrini wants to sign the Portugal star but has seen a £16m bid rejected.

Real bosses are standing firm over the centre-back and have told Pellegrini to up his offer to £24m.

Now the two clubs have reached a stand-off because City are not willing to meet the asking price for someone who is 30.
