Wigan Athletic face losing Amr Zaki.
The Egypt striker's parent club, Zamalek, insist they hold the rights over him.
And with Premier League big guns falling over themselves to snap him up for £7million, the message is clear: He will go to the highest bidder.
A spokesman for Zamalek said: "We have the legal rights to either accept or reject offers for the player.
"We would accept the highest bid for him."
Wigan have paid £1.25m to borrow Zaki, 25, for the season.
And Latics boss Steve Bruce remains hopeful a permanent deal for the eight-goal hitman can be agreed.
However, it is likely they will lose him to Liverpool or Manchester City, who are both interested.
