Manchester City must almost double their opening offer if they're to land West Brom captain Jonny Evans.

The Sun says City must pay £35million to prise shock target Evans away from West Brom.

And Etihad boss Pep Guardiola is trying to put together a package that will reach that number as he refuses to give up on the Northern Ireland centre-half.

City's initial £18m offer also included extras that would have taken the deal to £22m.

But that is not enough for Albion — who already know how tough it is to bring in players.
