Manchester City Ladies clinched promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club's 23-year history with a game of the campaign to spare.
Manager Leigh Wood said:
"We'll aim to establish ourselves in the Premier League next season."
The women's club, who play their home games in the shadow of the Etihad Stadium are highly ambitious, but Wood admits that they will need a greater degree of backing from the men's club than is the case at present.
He said: "At present we get help through the club's community department and we play our games at Sports City, which is an excellent facility.
"We still have to do lots of fundraising and the girls still have to pay a £30 signing-on fee, but Manchester City is a massive name and we attract good players because of it.
"The next step in our evolution will hopefully be to enter the application process for the Super League when it's opened up to new clubs.
"To do that we'll need serious backing from the men's club though, and we're hoping to begin discussions with them in the near future.""We've won 13 and drawn the other one of our last 14 games, so we've definitely earned our promotion.
