Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart says Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney deserves to be England captain.
Rooney began his reign as skipper by firing England to a 1-0 win over Norway on Wednesday from the penalty spot.
Goalkeeper Hart said: "He has been Wayne. That's who he is.
"He is the main man in English football and someone we are proud to play behind.
"It was an easy choice for Wayne to be captain and an easy for us to play behind."
But Hart insists he is not England's only leader.
Hart said: "Wayne is exactly the same as he was when he wasn't captain.
"You've got to understand that just because one person wears the armband that doesn't mean it is solely relied on them to run the team."
