Man City keeper Gonzalez turned down English offers for Aberdeen

Aberdeen loanee David Gonzalez has revealed that he turned down offers from clubs in England to link up with the Dons.

The 28-year old Colombian gloveman is on a six-month loan deal at Pittodrie from Manchester City and said that he was the subject of plenty of interest from clubs in England's lower leagues before deciding on Aberdeen.

"I enjoyed it at City, but it's time for me to play and if it is not there it will be somewhere else and I'm happy to do it here," said Gonzalez.

"It's impossible not to enjoy training with so many amazing players and the facilities are nice, but you get frustrated when you see your friends playing and you're not.

"My agent rang me to say there had been an approach to Manchester City from Aberdeen and they were going to come back with an official request within 24 hours.

"It was really exciting even thought I have other options with clubs in the lower division in England.

"I spoke to my wife and we had to make a decision whether to stay in England or come here and play in the top flight. In the end it was an easy decision to come here and show myself in the shop window."
