Manchester City insist Robinho did not sit out last week's win at Portsmouth in order to protect him for Brazil's big World Cup qualifier with Argentina.
The Sunday Mirror says City insist that quotes from Robinho claiming he did not want to play at Fratton Park so he could rest an ankle problem before Brazil's World Cup tie with Argentina were taken out of context.
