City boss Roberto Mancini also man-handled Balotelli to make sure he made peace with Boateng after the incident at the club's Carrington training base yesterday lunchtime.
Italian striker Balotelli reacted angrily to a challenge from behind by defender Boateng during a practice match.
The pair began grappling and shouting at each other. Three team-mates, including Nigel De Jong, split them up.
At the end of the game Balotelli stormed off towards the changing rooms but manager Mancini went after him and grabbed him with both hands.
He turned Balotelli round and sent him back towards German star Boateng to ensure the two of them made up.
A City spokesperson said: "The incident is a reflection of the competitive edge the players apply in training.
"The players shook hands at the end and there are not further issues."
