Man City hoping to tie down Milner

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini admits he would love to secure James Milner to a new contract.

The 29-year old midfielder's current deal expires at the end of the season but Pellegrini is eager to tie him down so he can remain a key part of his Premier League-winning squad.

"There is no news on the contract for the moment but I hope we will find an arrangement," said the Chilean tactician.

"I've said already what I think about James Milner. He's a very useful player.

"I brought him on in our last game as a substitute and I think he made more chances than a lot of players, three or four clear chances.

"He always plays at 100 per cent commitment and intensity for the team so I am happy with him."

Milner joined City from Aston Villa in August 2010 and has since made close to 190 appearances for the Eastlands outfit.
