Manchester City are close to completing the signing of Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

Amelia's representatives have already visited Manchester to discuss the transfer. More talks are planned over the next 24 hours and, if everything goes according to plan, the 25-year-old will take over from Kasper Schmeichel when the Premier League's early pace-setters visit Arsenal on Saturday.
