Man City hold out for a point at Wigan

Manchester City failed to go third in the Premiership after being held to a 1-1 draw at Wigan. However for City boss Mark Hughes a point was probably as much as he could have hoped for after Pablo Zabaleta sent-off for two bookable offences on 65 minutes.

Charles N'Zogbia had put Wigan ahead in first half stoppage time only for Martin Petrov to fire an equaliser immediately after the break.

Once reduced to ten men City sat back to consolidate what they had and could have won the game if a penalty had been awarded for a Maynor Figueroa challenge on Shaun Wright-Phillips.

But equally the visitor's had Shay Given to thank for a late save from Hugo Rodallega to preserve their point in a frantic finish to the game.
