Manchester City hero Peter Reid believes Wigan Athletic can upset them in the FA Cup.

An ex-player, coach and manager at City, Reid would normally be happy to see his old club win every match they play.

But he is very much in the Latics camp tomorrow, as he is a managerial consultant to their boss Paul Cook.

He said: “This is a great game for Wigan Athletic against a team of real quality. Whatever team Pep puts out, it's going to be a great experience for us.

“And knowing our manager the way I do, we'll have a go because Paul is a positive guy and we've got to try to win it.

“I know what logic tells you about this tie. To put it mildly, it's going to be very difficult for us.

“But I was at Anfield when City lost there last month and Liverpool won that great match because they had a go.

“If you sit back against City they will carve you open. If you try to squeeze them, they'll carve you open again with the great attacking players they've got with skill and pace.

“So being positive is the only way to go and we've already got two Premier League scalps in this cup run, against Bournemouth and West Ham.

“Promotion, of course, is the priority for us this season but this game against City is a great occasion for us."
