David Silva is expected to be out for three weeks with a knee injury and will miss Sunday's Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City's Spanish winger was hurt in their 2-0 League Cup defeat by Newcastle United on Wednesday.
"Maybe he (Silva) will be out for three weeks so he will not be available," said boss Manuel Pellegrini.
"He's a very important player but I always say the same thing - we have the squad and we have to replace him because everyone has different problems with their players," he added.
