Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has sent an ominous warning to the rest of the Premier League, saying his side are out to prove a point this season after performing below their own expectations last campaign.
Kompany scored City's third goal in their comfortable 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Monday.
After the match, the 29-year-old Belgian international told mcfc.co.uk that City are determined to prove they are among the favourites for this season's Premier League title.
"We have something to prove - last season was below what we are used to," Kompany said.
"There are a lot of 'favourites' for the title and apparently, we're not one of them so this was a great way to start.
"That's something which gives us extra motivation - we came out with a point to prove."
