Manchester City want Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o - and his teammate Thierry Henry - next season.
The Manchester Evening News says City will be just one of a host of clubs interested in the pair if they officially become available.
Eto'o, 28, will command a transfer fee and wages close to the £32.5m City paid for Robinho and the £160,000 per week they pay the Brazilian.
Henry is also interesting City's owners as they seek big names to lift the club's global profile.
