Manchester City are chasing Nancy midfielder Mickael Cuisance.
The 17 year-old prospect has just rejected a new contract offer from Nancy and is free to discuss Bosman terms with foreign clubs.
France Football says City are keen, but face competition from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Cuisance, a France U18 international, can play as a holding midfielder and also in a more advanced position. At Gladbach, they see him as a replacement for Borussia Dortmund signing Mo Dahoud.
City, meanwhile, are expected to sound out Cuisance about signing permanently this summer before continuing his development away on-loan elsewhere.
