Manchester City have hit back at criticism from Bayern Munich of their transfer policy.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the former Germany international and now chairman of the powerful European Clubs Association, blasted City for a lack of courtesy in transfer negotiations.
Bayern have been trying to sign Jerome Boateng from City for six weeks.
Rummenigge said: "At the moment they are using a tactic that I've never seen before. We've tried to get in contact with their people many times. But they don't even bother getting back to us. We never hear from them."
City were astonished by the Bayern broadside.
A club spokesperson told the Sunday Mirror: "Mr Rummenigge's claims are something of a puzzle to us, as not one call from Bayern Munich has been left unanswered and indeed a face-to-face meeting and several conversations have taken place on the topic.
"A personal deal has clearly already been agreed by Bayern, directly with the player, but our respective valuations vary wildly."
