Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta says there can be no excuses for their FA Cup humiliation at the hands of Wigan Athletic.
Zabaleta insists doubts over manager Roberto Mancini's future did not influence the performance.
He said: "We tried to do our best but it is difficult to find an answer why everything went wrong.
"All we can say is congratulations to Wigan - they played better than us.
"It (Mancini speculation) didn't affect the players. But we are now in a bad situation because when you look at the team, you expect City to win a trophy."
