Manchester City fullback Gael Clichy is enjoying his healthy rivalry with Patrice Evra, the Manchester United defender, in the France squad.

Clichy earned his 13th cap after replacing Manchester United's Patrice Evra in the victory over Ukraine, France's first win at a major tournament since 2006.

He said: "I make sure I'm ready whenever I'm needed.

"It's good to be on the team sheet and better to win without conceding a goal.

"Whether it's Pat or me who's playing, we both have our own abilities."
