Matija Nastasic admitted he was thrilled to sign permanently with Schalke.

The Serbian defender, 21, completed his move to the German club on Wednesday after an initial loan from Manchester City and is excited about pledging his allegiance to the Gelsenkirchen cause.

"I am proud and happy to remain at Schalke," said Nastasic.

"From day one, I was immediately a part of the team. In the future I'd like to help the team achieve our goals."
